My Dad...

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. We did. I have not blogged in a few days because my dad got sick and was in the hospital. We initially thought it was from his medication that was making his heart rate very low but it ended up being that he needed a pacemaker. He is home from the hospital and he is doing very good. I got to sleep on a cot at the hospital which was horrible. I'm not a small woman so everytime I got up and down (which was about 30 times that night) I felt like the bed was going to collapse! Dad had so much fluid build up that he lost almost 5 pounds during the night which is why I was up 30 times! Oh well...he is better and that is all that matters!

Christmas morning...

I'm going to go ahead and post picture because I have a lot of cooking to do today. Tonight we are going to my parents house. I think Alex liked all her gifts. She made a list so that what we got. I believe her favorite thing was a Light Saber! Yes my almost 16 year old daughter wanted a Light Saber. Oh well! You have to watch the video of our cat Zoi...she is so funny. Merry Christmas!

A full day...

Alex and I have been baking all afternoon. Chocolate chip cookies, fudge, and Paula Deen's Mystery pecan pie. I highly reccomend the Ghirardelli chocolate chips. Probably the best recipe I have ever used.
Alex's fish Roger Prodactor jumped out of his bowl and down the sink. Jimmy being the wonderful dad he is went to the Family Dollar store here in Kansas and bought a pipe wrench just to get the fish out. Well with much struggle we were not able to get the 40 year old pipe loosened. So there we were staying our last "goodby" to Roger Prodactor. He will be the most handsom Beta in the sewer.
So tonight we will watch the Grinch...last night was Christmas Vacation and today we watched Elf and of course we will open 1 gift tonight. I wish everyone a Merry Christmas!

Love the small town life...

I have to admit after being in Tulsa and going to Owasso yesterday that I love small town life. Its quiet, simple, and easy. There is no traffic. There isn't a million people everywhere. I was glad to be home!

Our Day in Branson

We went to Branson Saturday just for the day. We wanted to use those season passes one more time! It was so cold. When we got there the temp had dropped 20 degrees. I didn't take a coat but I had my snowman blanket that I kept tightly wrapped around my head. The rides had just been closed as we got there so Alex and Ben were forced to shop. I ended up getting sick so we went home 15 minutes before the parade started. The lights were beautiful.

Christmas with family

On Friday night we went to my Uncle Jim and Aunt Janet's house. This was the first time in probably 14 years we have celebrated the holidays together. We had so much fun. We did a white elephant gift exchange. Jimmy ended up with a plastic poncho, I had 2 Snoopy activity books and Alex ended up with the grand gift of a HUGE picture of my Grandmother and Old Dad. My sister got my a Tulsa area fireman calender which we got a great laugh out of. All in all it was a great time and I can't wait till next year!

My Own Personal Santa!

Jimmy played Santa at our elementary school the other day. He was a little smaller than your average Santa but he was very cute!

Thanksgiving 2008

I know I didn't do this in order but I forgot all about my Thanksgiving pictures. I know no one reads this but it gives me something to do. First of all Alex helped my prepare the turkey. We took a recipe from Food Network. It was a delish turkey.

I love days off...

Well we have had two snow days this week and I have enjoyed every minute of it. I slept in till 8:00 this morning. And I had a nice cozy nap both days. I'm sure I can't be so lucky to have a third day off. I am pretty much finished with my Christmas shopping. I did most of it online. I have been so bored lately that I'm rereading the Twilight series. Hope everyone is doing well!

Hello again

This is my first post in a month. Life has been busy and I have been introduced to Facebook. But I am going to try and keep up with my blog. Probably not daily. An email I got from a friend reminded me I need to get on here. I have a big day ahead. We have the whole week off. When you live in a extremely small community full of hunters you get the whole Thanksgiving week off. One of the many perks of being in a small town. o we are headed to Tulsa today for a doctors appointment. And I'm sure we will hit a few thrift stores. Of course I have to find the perfect turkey for our thanksgiving dinner.
So much to do this morning so I better go.

I have been busy

I have not blogged in several days. We have been so busy around here. We had another member of our congregation pass away this week. It has been very sad and gloomy.
Today is a day off for me. Parent Teacher conferences...I love those. Today we are taking some kids to my parents house to rake leaves. They are earning money to go to the Burnt Cabin youth retreat in November. Alex is babysitting at the Siloam church tonight, they are going to a movie.
I can't think of anything else to say...except Have a wonderful weekend!

More Pictures

Our Vacation

When you live on a budget and want to get away you go to Branson. Ours was this weekend. It was the Church of Christ weekend at Silver Dollar City. We stayed in a condo which was wonderful and relaxing. My parents had an adjoining room next to ours. There were about 35-40 from our congreation. We had a great time. I mostly enjoyed taking pictures at all the pretty flowers. We did a little shopping not too much though. We are going to try and go back in December to see the christmas lights. Here are a few of my pictures:

What a week...

I have had a very busy but wonderful week. I spent today with my mom and her sisters and my cousin. We ate a great little sandwich shop in Grove. I found Alex some great clothes at a yard sale. I'm glad she doesn't care. She is a good girl!
Well I have to get busy on my Sunday morning class. I hope you all have a good weekend. Have a Blessed Day!

A day off...

The thing I like best about being in Kansas and working for the school here is that we are out of school all the time. Actually its not that great because we do have to make it up. But today is one of those days that we have off. The Tulsa State Fair is going on and we have a day set aside to go. Nice huh? Althought we are not going this year.

We lost a very dear friend of our a few days ago. He lost his battle with cancer. Even though Mack was 82 he acted like a kid. Always laughing and making jokes. He was very special to me. He was also one of Jimmy's best friends. They always had a lot to talk about. Mack would talk to anyone! He was amazing. His service will be tomorrow. He will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.

It has been 10 days since my last post. I have been very busy. Thanks a lot Amber for introducing me to Amazon. That has kept me so busy. I average about 2 books a day. It is fun and easy.

I hope everyone is doing well...who am I kidding, no one reads this!!!

My Hobby of online selling

Well, Amber I followed your advice and listed a bunch of books on Amazon. I finally got Jimmy off his duff (just kidding honey) and had him go through the enormous task of cleaning out his book shelf. We have everything from soccer to Max Lucado to Spaceballs. Its quite easy. My mom sold her first book the other day and made $5. She was very excited.
I made a trip to the Grove thrift store and hit the mother load! I bought about $200 worth of Gap and The Children's Place clothes for little boys. I cant wait to get them listed.
Maybe I will strike it rich...DOUBTFUL!

Labor Day Dinner

Well, we had a great Labor Day dinner with my parents. Dad grilled hamburgers, hot dogs and chicken. My mom made potato salad and I made baked beans which I found repulsive! We always have a great time.

I also love taking pictures of my moms dog Oliver. He is the most photogenic dog I have ever seen. He loves to smile.

What to do? That is the golden question...

Why is making a career change so hard? Its not like I have done it a million times! I have only had a few jobs in my life. I am dying to figure out if I want to do medical transcription or medical billing. I am so confused. It seems like I'm leading more to the one that seems less hard. But I really want to do the one that seems harder. I'm overwhelmed...I don't care which one...I just want a job I can do at home. I want to be able to make more money. I will never make money doing the job I have now although I don't work at the school to make money! HAHA...that's a joke. No seriously...I love the kids, I love having the summers off but I why not have a job that I can do in my pj's?
I'm rambling I know...please help if you have any suggestions!

Im ready for a day off!!!

No matter how much I love my job I can't wait for that 1st holiday off. I have looked forward to September 1st since August 11th. I am worn out, tired and just want to lounge in my favorite cut off sweats and a big t-shirt!
We have been pretty busy. Vacation Bible School took up so much time. Although I probably did the least work in my family. It was still a tough job.
I have been cleaning out closets and listing stuff on eBay. I suppose you could call that my new hobby. I used to sell stuff a long time ago but I have so much stuff I could get rid of. I find it relaxing.
Alex is doing good with her online high school. I'm a bad mom though. I found out she could have started August 7th. So she has a lot of catching up to do. She loves being able to instant message her teachers whenever she wants. She is about a month away from her getting her drivers permit! She is a good driver but she doesn't get to drive alot, just to the trash dumpster and post office. She kinda hugs the corners!
Well, I suppose I will start getting ready for work. I'm going to try and do better about blogging. Love you all!

My Week...

I had every intention on posting this week but I have been so tired and worn out. My first week at school was pretty good. I didn't do a whole lot. Sometimes doing nothing is pretty tiring. Since I don't have to take Alex to school I can sleep till 7:00 a.m. which I love.
Jimmy has been keeping the house clean. He is wonderful! My laundry is done. My sheets are clean and I don't have to go searching for clean underwear or a towel.
Alex and I got our hair cut today. By the time we were done it looked like a dog was laying on the ground. It feels so good to have it off my neck. Alex's was the most drastic change. Not only because of the cut, we colored it red, more of a very golden brown. But she looks great!
I'm ready for my weekend!

My last day...

I cant believe that this is my last day before going back to work. I am going to have to get up and shower before 11:00 am. I am going to miss being here with Jimmy and Alex. Although I am looking forward to being on a schedule again. A new school year means the weather will be changing into fall which is my favorite time of year.
Wish me luck!

Ready for bed...

I had a really great day. We started out going to my parents to do yard work. Dad is still recovering from surgery. Jimmy never got the weed eater started so we just sat and talked for 2 hours. It was really nice talking about our future and everything. My parents are so supportive and love us so much. This adventure in the ministry is hard sometimes but my parents always have good advice.
We ended up going to lunch and hanging out.
We finished the day working on V.B.S. stuff and going to church.
I am really sad because I only have 2 says of summer break left! I want to be a stay at home wife...How do I do that?

Who wants free dog food?

Well, my days have been pretty boring. I went to town today! Came home...took a very short siesta. I made a chocolate pecan cheesecake. I found a recipe in my new Rachel Ray magazine I wanted to try. I was very excited until I found no chili powder in my spices. Now I'm trying to figure out what I am going to cook for my lovely family.

Oh yeah...I saved $36.00 at my favorite store Walgreen's! I also in my daily task of looking for freebies. I found this on the Internet (I know, I'm pitiful) http://www.startsampling.com/sm/100323/captureAddress.iphtml?item=100323&source=

Its a coupon for a free bag of Iams dog food.
ENJOY!!!

My day...

I had a great day! I got to spend the morning with Kasey. We went to yard sales. I found a really cool quilt and some chairs for outside. Alex got some silly t-shirts.

I started rereading a book... The Lovely Bones. It is an amazing book. Its about a 14 year old girl who is murdered. She is watching her family from heaven. She narrates the story. In late 2009 it is going to be made into a movie. I cant wait!

Thats about all I did today...nothing exciting! I did take this really cute picture of my cat Zoi.

I loved this...

OK so maybe The Body Farm wasn't such a good idea. I didn't sleep well and my cat kept scaring me. But I did find this online this morning and thought it was a hoot. I am a big animal lover. I feel like Big Butter....

The Body Farm

I started reading The Body Farm by Patricia Cornwell last night. I just finished it. It was my first crime book I have ever read. I was a little creeped out at times. It was a great book. I can't wait to read another one of her books!

Bowling and other things..

Yesterday was a very long and busy day. My dad had surgery. He did great. He is at home resting. We went to another hospital to visit a friend. We came home, took a nap just in time to leave again. We went to Grove to take the youth group bowling. We had a really good time. My favorite part of the day is when Alex saw a friend who she hasn't spoke to since March. They had a falling out and really have avoided each other at all costs. It is so hard to see your kids hurt but when I saw those two embrace each other and say I'm sorry it was worth the hurt. I love Alex and just want her to be happy. So here is my picture of the day....

My Handyman!

I had the privilege of watching my husband help build a roof. He is helping a friend of ours build a roof for their travel trailer. We had been eating dinner with my parents. After dinner I had to hurry while there was still daylight so I could take some pictures of this awesome adventure. There he was standing on the roof holding a nail gun in the air. I didn't know if I should be sacred. I could just see him shooting himself in the foot or the eye or someone else. He survived! He was quite proud of himself...so am I.

I love saving money...

We went to the grocery store today which is not a lot of fun for some people. I love seeing how cheap I can get things for. I saved so much money today it was as if I got my 6 boxes of cereal for free! I am a coupon crazed woman. I love to price match. My favorite are the stores that have double coupons. Walgreen's is one of my favorites also. I love walking out of there with 3 bags of things for 10 bucks. OK, so I may have 8 tubes of toothpaste, 6 bottles of conditioner and 8 bottles of shampoo but...I got them for free! I got aggravated with Jimmy today when we went to McDonald's and he didn't get his "free" apple pie for large sizing his food. Oh well. I cant win them all.
Just my random thoughts...

Another great day!

We had the pleasure of having visitors at church yesterday. My aunt Margie and uncle Martin came to church. So did Ashton's girlfriend Nikki.
It was a unproductive day. I cooked a pork roast that was supposed to be thawed out when cooked but of course I didn't do that. It was frozen solid! It took twice as long to cook it and we ate the whole pan of rolls waiting for it to get done!

Alex and her friend Courtney decided they wanted $7 boat shoes from Walmart...they discovered them when they saw my 62 year old dad wearing them. But they want to paint theirs!

We had a youth activity last night. There were tons of water balloons. I managed to stay dry for the most part. People tend to not bother you if you are holding a camera and phone. My secret to staying dry!
My friend Becky made pizza dip which I find delicious. I hid some for later. After drinking 4 glasses of tea I couldn't sleep. So Jimmy heated up the pizza dip and we ate it at midnight. I cut my coupons and watched Pimp my Ride. Pizza dip at midnight isn't such a great idea. I'm feeling a little greasy this morning! I will get that recipe and post it because it is wonderful!

I suppose I have get out of my pj's and do some house work. School starts in 2 weeks and I have done nothing this summer!!!!

MY THOUGHTS....

I have to say that I am a very lucky person. I have a amazing husband a very cool 15 year old daughter. I have a good life and great friends. I am close with my parents who I love deeply. I have a 20 year old nephew that I can't get rid of! Just kidding. I love watching my husband when he takes the first bite of a delicious looking omelet that I have made. I love when my daughter wakes up at noon and her nose is wrinkled and she has a cute smile. I love when my nephew comes home from college and gives my a giant hug and wants to hang out with me cause he thinks "I" am cool. Wow...me cool? I love when I have a house full of teenagers because it means my daughter has friends that love her. I have said all these things so that I can remind myself everyday that God is Good and I am Blessed!
